Welcome
| Welcome to The Washington
Center for Cognitive Therapy. We appreciate your interest. Please
let us know how we can help you. |
| For over 20 years, our primary mission
has been to provide short-term cognitive therapy to people
suffering from a variety of mood disorders. We offer
supervision and training for students and mental health
professionals interested in developing skills in cognitive
therapy. We also incorporate other therapy approaches, such as
schema-focused therapy and emotion-focused therapy, to enhance
the effectiveness of treatment. The Center also conducts
psychological evaluations for residents in the Washington, D.C.
area who might have emotional, cognitive, or physical
disabilities. |

Cognitive therapy is active,
directive, and focused on the present time. Client and therapist jointly
identify problem areas and goals at the outset of treatment. We try to
highlight the client’s thinking surrounding current
difficulties and to efficiently teach techniques for change.
When we started, cognitive
therapy was in an embryonic stage of development. We have kept up
with the latest developments and integrated other proven treatment
approaches along with it, for success with an even broader range of
difficulties. Thanks to clinicians and researchers, cognitive
therapy is now established as the most effective form of
psychotherapeutic treatment for a wide range of difficulties.
Cognitive therapy continues
to evolve in creative ways. We strive to bring clients the latest
developments at the Washington Center for Cognitive Therapy.
